I just released the first new version of Nutrition Facts in over 5 years. I rewrote the entire application from scratch to allow for easier addition of new features in the future.

Featurewise, there isn’t much new, but over 1000 foods were added and the nutrition label is much more detailed. Perhaps too detailed. Here is a summary:

  • Searching is automatic after the 4th character is typed in the search box
  • 1000 new food added since last version
  • Vastly expanded nutrition label
  • Based on the .Net framework, which means you may have to download an update from Microsoft.

The download is almost three times the size of the last version since the database has grown.

I plan on adding features regularly. To get an idea of what I am working on check out this post.

The application is currently missing some features too.

  • Fatty acids and amino acids are not displayed.
  • Recommended Daily Allowances are not displayed. I am currently implementing this feature.
  • Initial search can be slow

Go check it out!
